New Faces of Engineering is Back!
Are you a young (30 years old or younger on 31 December 2013) LGBT engineer who
graduated from an ABET accredited engineering program (or international equivalent)?
Do you know such an engineer? If so, NOGLSTP would like to see you or that person
nominated for New Faces of Engineering.
New Faces of Engineering is a recognition program sponsored by the National
Engineers Week Foundation. During EWeek in February, nominees from EWeek partner
societies are featured in a full-page ad in USA Today. As a founding member of the
EWeek Diversity Council, each year NOGLSTP nominates an outstanding young LGTB
engineer for this recognition. Previous NOGLSTP nominees have been Tye Jordan, now
of HDR Engineering; Heidi Bauer, then of CH2M Hill; and Jonathan Dell, now of
Hamilton Sunstrand (United Technologies). Our nominee Robert Castor, then of
Freescale Semiconductor, was the Diversity Council’s representative in the full-page
ad one year. The full slate of Diversity Council nominees receives recognition
annually on the EWeek website.
(And remember, during the spring, EWeek and its partners sponsor New Faces of
Engineering: College Edition which not only recognizes up and coming engineering
college students, it rewards them with scholarships. Please stay on the lookout for
deserving nominees for New Faces: College Edition.)
So if you are or you know of an up-and-coming young engineer, please submit your
nomination for New Faces of Engineering. Nominations are due on or before Friday, 1
November 2014. For a nomination form, to submit a nomination, or to find out more,
please contact Tim Wilson at tw-board at noglstp.org. Follow this link to learn more about the nomination procedure.
