LAGLS was started in November 1979, by a gay botany professor who was tired of hiding his scientific orientation from people he had met at bars. 

Deborah started hanging around LAGLS in 1982.  It was her idea just a few years ago that we should get dressed up and go out for dinner for our anniversary month.
