NOGLSTP’s annual pilgrimage to the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science will include a workshop, NOGLSTP’s annual business meeting, and a reception for attendees.
Career Workshop
NOGLSTP will be presenting a career workshop at the AAAS meeting, entitled: “Being OUT in the Sciences: Best Practices”. The panel discussion will be on Saturday, February 18 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Vancouver, BC Convention Center Room 111-112. Speakers will include Rochelle Diamond, Amy Ross, and Barbara Belmont, with guest speaker Paula Jones, J.D.., Principal HR Manager at Genentech.
NOGLSTP Annual Business Meeting
In addition, NOGLSTP will be holding its Annual Business meeting on Sunday, February 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, Nootka Room. You do not have to be registered for the AAAS meeting to attend this business meeting. Please make arrangements with the NOGLSTP office (bbelmont at noglstp dot org) by Wednesday, February 15 to participate by conference call.
NOGLSTP Reception
NOGLSTP will host a Reception for LGBTQA attendees of the AAAS meeting on Sunday, February 19 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pan Pacific Hotel, Oceanview Suite 3. All are welcome to the reception.
For those wondering about the NOGLSTP Annual Recognition Awards, previously given at the AAAS meeting, the Board of Directors has moved the ceremony to the Out to Innovate Summit Gala Dinner, to be held in October 2012 at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
